Strong second half sets up Bulls victory over the Stormers
The Bulls, after Saturday's convincing victory over the Stormers, are in a favorable position to finish among the top four teams on the United Rugby Championship's log and perhaps even present a semi-final at Loftus Versfeld this year.
The Bulls were in the right frame of mind from the outset against the Stormers in front of a packed Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, with the team getting off to a strong start before surviving a Stormers comeback and then breaking away in an impressive second half for their 40-22 URC victory.
The win not only saw the team jump into second place on the log, it also brought an abrupt halt to their losing run against the Capetonians which saw them suffer defeats in the last seven matches between the sides.
The victory also maintained their flawless run at home this season.
The Bulls will now enjoy a two-week break, after which Jake White will have to decide whether to send his best team or an alternative squad on a two-week tour of Europe, for two away match commitments.
This touring squad will play the Newport Dragons in Wales on March 22. They then finish the tour om 29 March with a tough match in Ireland against the leaders on the log, Leinster.
Then follow four home games against Munster of Ireland (April 20), Ospreys of Wales (April 27), Glasgow of Scotland (May 11) and Benetton of Italy (May 18) before White’s men will conclude their league commitments against the Sharks on June 1 in Durban.
