New management wants to revive boxing’s glory days in Pretoria
The newly elected leadership of the Tshwane Metro Boxing Organisation is ready to restore this former high-profile sport to glory in the Pretoria area.
The Tshwane Metro Boxing Organization ushered in a new chapter of leadership following the election of its new committee earlier this month.
Held at the Transnet Boxing venue, the election marked a significant milestone in the development and future of boxing in the region.
The newly elected committee is set to drive the organisation’s vision of enhancing the sport’s profile, nurturing local talent, and fostering greater community engagement. The committee comprises individuals with a proven track record in sports management, boxing, and community development. They bring a wealth of experience and a shared passion for advancing boxing in Tshwane.
The new leadership includes:
- President: Johann Prinsloo, a former boxer and a seasoned sports administrator with extensive experience in managing regional and national sporting events.
- Vice President: Jackson Masangu, a Boxing coach who is committed to mentoring young athletes and promoting grassroots boxing programs.
- Secretary-General: Suzette Smit, a dynamic organiser known for her expertise in coordinating large-scale sporting events and maintaining organisational efficiency.
- Treasurer: Moonyean Britz, a financial expert whose focus will be on ensuring transparency and accountability in the organisation’s financial affairs.
Speaking after the election, the newly appointed President expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the committee by the members and stakeholders.
“Our mission is to elevate boxing in Tshwane to new heights. We are committed to creating opportunities for our athletes, engaging the community, and ensuring that Tshwane becomes a hub for boxing excellence in South Africa,” said Prinsloo.
The committee has outlined its immediate priorities, which include:
- Launching youth-focused development programs to cultivate talent at grassroots levels.
- Securing sponsorships and partnerships to sustain and expand the organisation’s initiatives.
- Hosting regional and national boxing tournaments to showcase local talent.
- Promoting gender equality in boxing by encouraging female participation at all levels of the sport.
