Five must-have summer dresses
Look at the top five dresses to have in your wardrobe during summer.
Summer is here, and so are the December holidays.
It is dress time, and if you are going away for the holidays, you have to make sure that you have these five must-have dress types in your bag.
1. The shift dress
This silhouette is perfect for day and night. In daytime you can wear this dress to the mall, and accessorise it with anything from handbags, to comfortable sandals and even a pair of colourful high heels.
At night time, you can wear your hair down, and jazz up the shift dress with some jewels around your neck and on your ears. You can even use a waist belt on this dress to make it interesting.
2. The maxi dress
The maxi dress is perfect for us Pretoria girls. It is no secret, we do not usually get a lot of sun on our legs, by wearing a maxi dress in summer, no one has to see or know anything that goes on underneath.
The maxi dress can be formal if you buy the right one, but generally they are worn in warm, sunny conditions, along the beach or in the park.
3. The lace dress
The lace dress is perfect for any occasion. I would not recommend wearing it to the beach, it can be quite warm. Lace is very lady-like, very feminine and classy.
Wear any colour lace to a wedding, a cocktail party or even a funeral. Lace generally looks like a more formal type of material to wear during summer, be sure to pair it with a nice air of plain-looking high heels as the lace has enough detail.
4. The little white dress
Forget about the traditional little black dress, and replace it with a fresh-looking little white dress for summer.
White dresses are perfect for summer, they represents cleanliness and freshness summer brings with its rain and green grass.
The nice thing about little white dresses is that they can be complemented and accessorised by colour. Oh yes, add a pop of colour like bright shoes or some stunning eye-catching jewellery and you will be ready to take on the day and the night.
5. The floral frock
What is summer really without at least one floral dress in your dressing room? Floral dresses made a comeback a few years ago, with people doubting the vintage prints.
Fast forward to 2016, and you will never want anything more. Pair your floral dress with a natural hairstyle and some comfy shoes, you will be ready for a picnic or day at the beach in no time.
