Bobby isn’t scared to show his emotions
The Afrikaans singer could hardly believe his eyes when he turned his chair and first got a glimpse of the blind Barnard and it wasn't long before the tears started rolling down his cheeks.
Week after week singers from across the country sing their hearts out in the hope of becoming The Voice SA‘s first winner and the country’s next big star.
This past weekend was no different and although hopefuls gave it all they had, there was one performance in particular that took the country and social media by storm.
It only took a couple of notes from the One Direction hit Story of My Life, by Vernon Barnard during the blind auditions to get the crowd on their feet and leave judge Bobby van Jaarsveld in tears.
The Afrikaans singer could hardly believe his eyes when he turned his chair and first got a glimpse of Barnard and his dark sunglasses and fellow judge Karen Zoid even got up to hug the crying Van Jaarsveld, who was clearly in awe.
“During my blind-audition my main focus was to give a heart-felt, yet composed performance that would draw the coaches and audience in and leave them with everything I have,” the blind singer said in a Q&A on The Voice SA’s website.
“Honestly, I had no idea which coach was first to turn, but I could tell from the way the audience reacted I got at least one coach to turn his or her chair. Only once my performance was finished I got the chance to talk to the coaches,”
