Music star discovered in Soshanguve
Kalawa Jazmee have discovered another gem in the form of DJ Micks who is from Soshanguve.

Known for continually unearthing talent from grassroots, Kalawa Jazmee have found another gem in the form of DJ Micks.
Born, Thulasizwe Nkosi, DJ Micks knew from the age of six he was destined for greater heights.
Late last year, DJ Micks who is from Soshanguve Extension 4, became the latest acquisition by Kalawa Jazmee, one of South Africa’s biggest music record label.
In an interview with Rekord, DJ Micks said he started singing in church while he was still young.
“I used to marvel at other musicians be it at school, in church, on the radio or on TV,” he said.
It was during his schooling days when he met Bongani Shabangu who would later ignite his love for music.
“Bongani was a computer whizkid. We started working together. We started producing together and we grew together musically,” he says.
Thula started out as a vocalist and they started making hip-hop music before deciding to try house music.
“We later decided to try and venture into house music,” he said.
The duo produced a hit track called dakalo which put them on the map to become recognised even in counties such as Angola, Portugal, Brazil and Lesotho.
They formed a group called Muungu with vocalist Sindi Shobete who happened to be their school mate.
On their album they featured house music heavy weights such as vocalist Marissa Guzman from USA, UHURU, Dr Malinga Winnie Khumalo, Diclasone from Angola.
“At the moment we are pushing our next single. It is coming out next week featuring trademark (shumaya) song called Daliwami Benger,” he said.
