Night golfing event to benefit children
Wingate Park Country Club hosted a golf event to benefit Child Welfare Tshwane.
On April Fools’ Day, a group of caring golf-enthusiasts got together to enjoy an 18-hole golf journey at the Wingate Park Country Club for the benefit of Child Welfare Tshwane.
“Every year, the Firefly Foundation arranges an event to give back to a charity of our choice. Golf was always one of the best ways to do so and people spend a lot of money on it,” said Irene Fourie, member of the Firefly Foundation.
The golf day had a load-shedding theme. Players all paid a fee to participate in the event, which included an afternoon of relaxing golf with friends.
Four glow golf balls was used for a night game that was followed by a prize-giving dinner for all participants. All players received a goodie bag filled with sunblock and a pack of gum.
The event started late on Friday afternoon with enthusiastic amateur players all charged up for the game at night time.
With a completely different take on golf and charity, people are sure to attend the load-shedding golf event again next year.
All the proceeds of the event will go towards Child Welfare Tshwane.
