Traffic officer dies following taxi crash

News that the traffic officer who was hit by a taxi has died, has circulated on social media.

The traffic officer who was hit by a taxi on the Mabopane highway on Friday has died, according to social media reports.

The Fatal Moves Team, a social media group, tweeted the news of the officer’s death on Saturday morning.

The traffic officer was in a critical condition after he was hit by a taxi on the Mabopane highway on Friday.

Best Care Ambulance spokesperson Xander Loubser said the accident happened off the Bremer Street offramp around 17:00.

“He is in a critical condition and suffered head injuries and a pelvic fracture,” he said.

Loubser said the officer was stabilised on the scene and transported to Akasia hospital.

Tshwane metro was unavailable for comment at the time of publishing.
