Shootout leads to arrests

A shootout with the police in Olievenhoutbosch led to the arrest of three men on Wednesday.
The shooting took place in Extension 24 Ikati Street, Olievenhoutbosch, around 20:00.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said police received a tip-off about a group of people acting suspiciously and dealing money.
“Upon arrival at the scene, the suspects fired shots at the police and a shootout ensued.”
Selepe said the men were overpowered and arrested.
“The suspects were using three taxis. Inside one of the taxis, identity documents belonging to Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals were found.”
“It is believed that the suspects stole from spaza shops belonging to the nationals.”
Selepe said the men appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday, on charges of attempted murder and stolen property.
