Pretoria Boys High pupil laid to rest.

The family is struggling to come to terms with his death.

A Pretoria Boys High School pupil electrocuted last weekend was laid to rest on Friday.

Liam van der Merwe’s memorial service was held at the school, where classmates and friends bid him a final farewell.

Laim died after making contact with a live electrical wire last Saturday while on the roof of his family home in Pretoria.

Earlier this week, his stepfather Louis Minnaar told Rekord the family was struggling to come to terms with his death.

“It has been very difficult for us, considering it was so unexpected. It is painful to lose your child like that; we are still trying to make sense of all this.” said Minnaar

The family expressed gratitude for support received in this difficult time.

“We have received unbelievable support from members of the public, colleagues, the school and friends. That really helps deal with the pain and we are really grateful,” said Minnaar.
