Teenager stabbed in the east

A grade 9 pupil is still very traumatised after he was stabbed for his phone.

A learner of die Wilgers high school was stabbed three times on Monday, while walking home from school.

The grade 9 learner was walking in a field across from Presley’s night club around 15:30 when he was approached by a man who asked him what school he attended.

“The stranger stabbed the boy in his right shoulder, right hand and right upper thigh before grabbing his phone and running away,” said a family member.

The boy was taken to Wilgers hospital and received 16 stitches.

“He is in a lot of pain and very traumatised. He is still young.”

The family member said the victim worked hard and paid for his own cellphone, a Samsung S7 smartphone.

The victim received counselling at his school on Tuesday, but was still very traumatised.

On Wednesday, the family member said a charge would be laid at the police station.
