Trio arrested stealing truck tyres in Lyttelton

Security gave chase and managed to block them off.

Three people were arrested when they were caught stealing truck tyres in Centurion.

Bull Security spokesperson French Jooste said the trio tried to escape with the stolen tyres but were chased down and arrested.

“Thursday morning at 02:00 we received a panic activation from one of our Engen filling stations in Delmas Road. Our officers B2 Yanik Momsen and B3 Johan Wepener responded.

Upon arrival the petrol attendants informed them that three men had just stolen two tyres from a truck parked on the premises, and that the three had fled in a Hyundai H100 truck.

“Our officers gave chase and managed to block them off. They were arrested and handed over the Lyttelton SAPS.

He said the tyres and tools were discovered in their truck.

Police spokesperson Captain Coba Brits said a case of theft out of a motor vehicle was opened.

The trio are expected to appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
