Top fashion at high tea to raise funds for cancer patients
“I was inspired and touched because sometimes you don’t realise what other people out there are going through”.
Ladies dressed to the nines gathered to raise funds for children with cancer on Saturday during a high tea.
The event was held at the River Meadow Manor in Centurion.
The ladies rocked up in colourful dresses, accessorised with stylish handbags and beautiful hats.
The event was also attended by human settlements minister and presidential hopeful Lindiwe Sisulu, who also gave a personal account of how cancer has affected her life and those close to her heart.

CEO for CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa) Carl Queiros, told Rekord he was pleased by the turnout and he hoped for more people to join next time.
“The purpose of the high tea was to raise awareness to the need to help people with cancer. It is known that cancer is one of the diseases which need attention. By inviting the minister we wanted to bring about awareness and also to raise funds,” said Queiros.
CHOC is a nationwide NGO which helps children with cancer and also offers support to their families.

“We have an awareness training programme to warn people about the earlier detection of the signs of cancer. We also provide accommodation to cancer patients, offer practical support and several other services,” he said.
Queiros said he was touched by Sisulu’s last quote on cancer when she said: “Cancer and childhood cancer need the same attention and response as what we gave to HIV and Aids.”
Guest at the high tea Annerie Robinson said she was overwhelmed by the event.
“I was inspired and touched because sometimes you don’t realise what other people out there go through.”
