NU METRO: What’s new at the movies?

Christmas is now almost a month away, and with that, fun is the theme for the movies opening at Nu Metro cinemas in Pretoria this week – including a star-studded comedy everyone will enjoy, a stylish crime thriller, as well as the new Disney•Pixar’s animated adventure-comedy (the studio responsible for cinema gems such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Cars).

All the new releases are showing at both Nu Metro Menlyn Park and the VIP complex at Nu Metro Parkview in Pretoria East.

Coco (PG)

In Disney•Pixar’s Coco, aspiring musician Miguel (voice of Anthony Gonzalez) teams up with charming trickster Héctor (voice of Gael García Bernal) on an extraordinary journey through the Land of the Dead. Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colourful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Miguel and Héctor set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. Murder on the Orient Express (13 V)

Kenneth Branagh, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley and other respected actors star in this exciting new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s all-time bestseller. What starts out as a lavish train ride through Europe quickly unfolds into one of the most stylish, suspenseful and thrilling murder mysteries ever told. Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, John Lithgow and Mel Gibson are the stars leading the laugh-out comedy in the sequel of the popular original film. More daddies means more problems… Father and stepfather, Dusty and Brad join forces to provide their kids with the perfect Christmas. Their newfound partnership is put to the test when Dusty’s old-school, macho dad and Brad’s ultra-affectionate and emotional dad arrive just in time to throw the holiday into complete chaos.
