VIDEO: Local producers talk about their new movie, Frank & Fearless

South African comedian Schuster is back in the upcoming movie Frank & Fearless, entertaining audiences with his iconic humour.

The story revolves around a very controversial and tragic problem our society faces, namely rhino poaching.

Schuster plays the part of Sonny Frank, an insecure railway chef who teams up with a 10-year-old boy to kidnap the ambassador of a South East Asian country in an attempt to stop rhino poaching.

They will be joined by two four-legged friends: Reini (a baby rhino) and a faithful dog named Dog.

Rekord asked two Centurion residents – Asgar Mahomed, and Mahomed Cassim – who worked on the film as executive producers what it was like to work with Leon Schuster.

“It has always been great and fun working with Leon as he has a great knowledge in the industry,” they said.

“He has become a huge home brand within the various communities. Leon is no longer just a legendary actor to us, but a legendary friend and business partner; he is household name and just a great guy.”

In addition to working with Schuster, Cassim and Mahomed also felt compelled to work on this film because of its unusual theme.

“The film conceptually had a great appeal, but it was different to the usual Schuster-type film. The subject matter was relevant and touching, so we wanted to be a part of this story. We like to get involved when we know there is a great story to be told.”

On the message behind the film, the pair said: “The storyline of the movie is great; it brings in the human element of how people treat animals and in this case rhinos, just for greed. Leon has this unique way of sending home social messages through comedy, and this movie has a great message for rhino poachers as well as those who buy their illegal products.”

“Through the humour the movie audience gets educated more about the plight of the rhinos and one can only hope that positive change can occur.”

Working with Schuster is sure to be a unique experience, trying to keep your composure in an obviously, very funny situation or scene.

“Every moment of working with Leon is fun – watching the passion he brings to every project, and his style of interaction with everyone on the set. It’s just wonderful to witness.”

Frank & Fearless will appeal to many South Africans, as it touches on a subject that affects us all.

Cassim and Mahomed are proud of their project and urge people to experience this unique South African film with family and friends.
