Injured man airlifted after West accident

The man sustained critical head injuries in a serious motor vehicle collision on the Mabopane highway.

A serious accident on the Mabopane highway in Pretoria West on Saturday morning left several victims with multiple injuries.

Best Care ambulance spokesperson Xander Loubser said the accident took place around 01:00 between the Bremmer and Brits off ramps where two vehicles carrying passengers collided.

“There were multiple injuries on scene and all received treatment from various ambulance services prior to transport to hospital. The exact count of injured people cannot be confirmed as some were removed prior to Best Care’s arrival,” he said.

“One male patient sustained critical head injuries. He was stabilised on scene prior to being airlifted.”

Loubser thanked Ambu-Link Ambulance Service Advanced Life Support and HALO Aviation for their assistance in treating the patients.

“The exact cause of the accident remains subject to police investigation,” he said.
