Devastating fire destroys electronic shop in Laudium

Five rooms in the building were completely destroyed in the fire.

An upholstery business was completely destroyed in a fire in Laudium on Saturday afternoon.

“We received a call to respond to a building fire in 6th Avenue and upon arrival found the structure was on fire,” said Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Roland Hendricks.

“The crews managed to extinguish the fire and there were no reports of any injuries to the occupants.”

Hendricks said that the structure that completely burnt down was an attachment to a house, and was used as an electronic shop.

“Five rooms of the house were also destroyed in the fire.

“The teams were able to save the other rooms and the rest of the house,” he said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
