Man arrested with Nyaope and cocaine in the east

A 42-year old man was arrested for dealing with drugs in Nieuw Muckleneuk on Wednesday.

The man was busted during a police operation at a shopping centre in the area.

“Police officers identified a man who acted suspicious near a shopping centre in Nieuw Muckleneuk and searched him,” said police spokesperson Captain Colette Weilbach.

“Nyaope was found in his possession and he was arrested.”

This arrest happened after a 36-year-old man from Ivory Park told police where he bought his drugs from and who sold it to him.

Police followed up the information with the help of security officers from different companies who are part of the Brooklyn Security Forum.

“A nearby vacant house was searched and a man was found inside with a bag with 100 ‘slopies’ of nyaope and 58 cocaine rocks.

“The 42-year-old suspect from Soshanguve was arrested straightaway.”

In a separate incident in Menlo Park, near the Post Office a man from Mamelodi, aged 26, was also arrested for possession of nyaope and dagga.

The trio will appear in the Hatfield Community Court soon on drug related charges.

Brooklyn station commander, Brigadier Kushie Pietersen welcomed the arrests.

“Brooklyn SAPS will make the environment unbearable for drug users and dealers in the Brooklyn policing precinct,” she said.

Communities are urged to play their role by reporting any suspicious person, vehicle or circumstance to the police immediately by phoning the 10111 emergency number.

Information with regards to drug-related crime can be given to the police anonymously by phoning 08600-10111 or by using the MySAPS app.
