Deputy Minister of Arts & Culture visits Ermelo English Primary School

She interacted with the children by asking questions such as what the different colours on the national flag represented.

The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Ms Rejoice Thizwilondi Mabudafhasi paid a visit to the Ermelo English Primary School on Thursday.

The visit formed part of National Archive week.

She was accompanied by various dignitaries and guests from neighbouring countries.

The minister braved the early morning cold to address the very well behaved learners before a flag-raising ceremony took place during which the national flag and the school flag were hoisted.

In her address the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of archives from which learners could gather a wealth of information with regard to the customs and culture of our diverse society.

She interacted with the children by asking questions such as what the different colours on the national flag represented and tested their knowledge of the different national symbols.

Gift packs were handed out to those pupils who had answered the questions correctly.
