Mpumalanga APC members prepare for elections
Leaders encourage members to not make false promises to win votes.
EVANDER – Members of the African People’s Convention (APC) held their Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting at the Villas Conference Centre on, on Sunday, 24 November to discuss the organisation’s issues as they prepare for the general elections next year.
It was attended by the PEC and regional members from eHlanzeni and the Gert Sibande municipal areas and its alliance partners.
The members discussed the number of people in some wards in Mpumalanga that they want to reach during the elections.
Govan Mbeki municipal area is among the areas in Mpumalanga that the party is aiming at doing well in the elections.
The members said they have members in more than 20 out of the 32 wards and more than 500 people in Ward 9 and 12 who have promised to vote for them.
They said they are making inroads in other wards in Mpumalanga by holding mayors, councillors and Government officials accountable for poor services.
APC was founded on 5 September 2007 and Mr Themba Godi is the founding president.
Messrs Ernest Hlathi, provincial chairman, and his deputy, Petrus Mathebula, encouraged members to not blackmail or make false promises to people while they are campaigning for the elections.
They said members must explain the party’s motto, vision, mission and core objectives.
