EVANDER – Out of 21 streetlights in Toulouse Road, only five are in working order.
This is according to a resident who has lodged a complaint with the municipality in September this year.
He said he is fed up with streetlights not working and that nothing is being done about it.
The faulty streetlights raise concerns over the safety and security of people.
He has also made a request for a speed hump in this area after a motorist had driven into his residence causing damage to the home owner’s palisades.
This request was done in August..
Mr Henry Masango, head of communication andmarketing of the Govan Mbeki Municipalit, said “The municipality’s senior electrician in Evander has been dispatched to locate the faults and hopefully fix them.
“Regarding speed humps, there are many requests throughout the municipal area for traffic calming measures and every request is being attended to as and when resources permit.”
At the time of going to press the resident said that none of the streetlights had been fixed, but that the municipality ha been in contact with him and had set up a meeting for 6 December during which the issues of the streetlights will be addressed.
