Pave the road

The residents of Azalea Ext 1 are unhappy about the service delivery of the Lekwa Municipality.

“Most parts of Sakhile are paved, even on roads that are not busy,” a local said.

The community is concerned because the road to enter the area is busy and with the rainy season, using it is proving to be difficult.

“There were other roads we used to avoid that road when it rained and those roads have been closed by people who bought the space from the municipality.

“The least the municipality can do for us now is to fix that road,” a resident said.

According to them, the municipality tried to fix the road a couple of weeks ago.

“Now the road is full of stones and it is difficult to drive up that road after it rains.

“And we don’t have a choice because there is no other road to use,” another local said.
Motorists are the most concerned.

“My car always needs fixing, can’t the municipality do something and fix that road,” another local said.

Mr Sipho Mkwanazi, spokesman of the Lekwa Municipality, said this was part of the issues raised at the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultation meetings.

The priorities of the municipality however are water, sewage, electricity and refuse removal.
