Principal retires after 42 year of service
Ms Lizzy Nzima retires after 42 years as a teacher.
EVANDER – Tholukwazi Primary School staff bid farewell to the former principal, Ms Lizzy Nzima, and the deputy principal, Mr B Dunywa, on Friday, 6 December at the Villas Hotel.
Ms Nzima has served as the principal for 20 year.
Her career in education began in 1984 when she was appointed as a head of a department and in 1988 she was promoted to the position of deputy principal.
She became the principal in 1992.
Her colleagues and friends described her as a hard working and dedicated person and an achiever.
A women who always carried herself with dignity and respect.
Mr MP Mahlangu, Circuit Manager, said: “Ms Nzima is a very dedicated person who did not mind working over weekends and in the holidays.
“In her quest of dispelling ignorance, she has made many sacrifices.
“Her character has proven that teaching is a noble profession.
“She was not an ordinary teacher, she was versatile, a netball player, a tennis player, a choir conductor and is a committed member of her church.
“I wish her all the best. It is time that she enjoys satisfaction after action.”
A former pupil of Tholukwazi Primary School, Mr Thokozani Malindisa said Ms Nzima was more than a teacher and her smile would always give pupils hope and courage.
He also said Ms Nzima was always calm and understanding, but very strict.
Mr B Dutywa, the former deputy principal, was described as a disciplinarian.
“The best teacher who did not only teach the syllabus, but also life skills and never compromised his values.”
Ms Mahlangu and Mr Dutywa both said they are now going to rest and spend time with their families.
