EVANDER – Business owners have had just about enough of household rubbish being dumped near their business.
A loading area had become a dumping site and had raised many concerns over hygiene and this being a health hazard.
Business owner Mr Gerhard Nel contacted the Echo and Ridge Times in the hope that something could be done about the dumping.
“For several months this area has been piling up with waste and nothing is being done about it,” Mr Nel said.
He contacted the health department to report the dumping.
Mr Nel said: “This is a loading area, not only for my business but other business owners who have customers and people with whom we do business are exposed to this rubbish.”
At the time of going to press, the newspaper had not yet received comment from the municipality but were told by Mr Nel that the rubbish had been removed.
By the end of the week many municipal workers were at the loading area in full force to clear away the rubbish.
