Water crisis hits Lebohang again
Resident complains about not having water for two weeks.
LEANDRA – Mr Henry Masango, Govan Mbeki municipal communication and marketing manager, said they had challenges in finding a right valve to fix the pipe that burst and resulted in Lebohang not having water for about two weeks. “The water pipe burst last week at the reservoir.
“The municipality has dispatched alternative water trucks to assist the residents and technicians are busy with repairs.
“The municipality is apologising profusely for the delay in restoring the pipe.”
The residents said on Tuesday, 10 December they were not informed about this and had struggled to get water.
They also complained about the water truck not coming to other areas and in other extensions it arrives in the evenings.
Ms Ayanda Mtsweni, a resident, said: “It is unacceptable that we have to live without water for so long.
“Water is a basic need.
“We now rely on the water from the rain for survival.
“This is not the first time and the municipal keeps making the same excuse that a pipe has burst.
“It is either that they hire incompetent contractors, or that they use cheap stuff to fix the problem.”
