TRICHARDT – Municipal workers were covering potholes with sand as a temporary solution to the many potholes in and around Trichardt over the festive season.
The Ridge Times published an article “Trichardt residents have had enough” on 20 December about the poor conditions of the roads, running sewage and street lights that are not working.
Residents think that, though the potholes had been covered with sand, it is not the solution and that these holes need to be fixed properly.
Many raised concerns that the filling of potholes with sand is a waste of money and resources being spent only for it to be washed away when it rains.
Spilling sewage is still a huge problem, causing a stench in and around businesses and residential areas.
Many sewerage problems lead to the forming of potholes where the sewerage will lay for days, most of the times even weeks.
A business owner said: “To date nothing has been done about the sewage problems and the sewage is still spilling in areas.”
The Ridge Times asked Mr Henry Masango, Communications and Marketing Manager of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, for a comment, but to no avail.
