Woman is fed up with municipality.
Resident of Lebohang wants the municipality to remove a pipe from her yard.
LEBOHANG – Ms Emmely Skhosana want the Govan Mbeki Municipality to remove their pipe from her yard.
She said municipal officials asked whether they could install a pipe and erect a bridge in her yard several years ago which were going to help her neighbours who had a problem with water flowing into their houses when it rains.
“I agreed because the municipal officials said it was temporary.
“I also wanted to help my neighbours, but kindness led to a miserable life.
“The municipality installed the pipe and and erected the bridge, but broke a manhole.
“They promised to often come to clean the pipe and monitor the manhole, but they never showed up.
“Now both the pipe and manhole are blocked and sewage is flowing into my house.
“I do not know how many times I have reported the matter, but nothing has been done.
“I cannot extend my house because of this pipe and when it rains, water and sewage flow into my house.
“Govan Mbeki Municipality is undermining me,” said Ms Skhosana.
Mr Henry Masango, head of Communication and Marketing for the Govan Mbeki Municipality, said: “A senior engineering technician from the water and sewer section will investigate the broken sewer manhole and will resolve the matter. ”
