Ironically, water streams out of a damaged pipe, while parts of town have been without water for a few days.
According to a business owner in Naudé Street, municipal contract workers dug a hole in the parking area on13 February to have access to the water meter.
The workers left the hole uncovered and, next to it, only a makeshift piece of barrier tape tied round a stone as a warning to motorists.
Needless to say, an unfortunate customer drove into the hole on Monday morning at 10:45 and damaged the water pipe. The business owner phoned the municipality three times to report the incident, but to no avail.
Water streamed from the pipe throughout the night. By the time of going to print, municipal workers had arrived to attend to the matter.
