eMZINONI – Nearly 20 households in the Pharama Location have to share one tap and walk far to go to a toilet that they had to build for themselves.
According to Mr Simphiwe Masombuka most of the people are women.
It has been like this for 20 years and they have mentioned it to the municipality several times.
A contract was appointed for the building of new toilets for them last year, but nothing came of it.
They have six boxes in the field which are being used as toilets, because there are no other toilets.
Residents of the Pharama location feel their human rights to health have been violated due to the poor service delivery by the municipality.
Mr Masombuka said they want to know if this is what they get for 20 years of democracy.
“The municipality keeps making broken promises to the community,” he said.
“How can we vote and get poor service delivery?” Mr Masombuka asked.
Mr Henry Masango from the municipality said that the municipality will follow up on the location and look further into the matter.
