Two organisations with one goal
"We realise that we have a common objective, which is, helping the community thrive.
Inhlos’enhle Community Building (ICB) held a meeting with The Girls and Boys Education Movement (GEMBEM) about their respective roles at Stanwest Combined School last weekend.
The district chairman of GEMBEM, Mr Mduduzi Buthelezi, a pupil at Stanwest Combined School, and founder and chief executive director of the ICB, Mr Siphiwe Vilakazi, organised the meeting after a lengthy conversation about the mission and vision of the two organisations.
“We realise that we have a common objective, which is, helping the community thrive.
“We share common goals, we both intend to address the same problems encountered by young people and the entire community,” Mr Vilakazi said.
According to him, he likes working with young people, because they are future adults and leaders. “I have always found it a pleasure to be in the midst of young people and I am not too old to learn new things.
“We can all learn from young people. The two organisations worked together on a project called “Let’s talk about it” which involved two schools, the Nyandeni Primary School and the Thobelani Secondary School.
Mthokozisi “Jiyane” Tshabalala and Sithembiso Masondo represented the ICB on a talk show held on social media.
Mr Vilakazi said he wanted to help the boys and girls focus on their goals and objectives.
