SECUNDA – Bongumusa Mavuso celebrated his National Diploma in Chemical Engineering at the Vaal University of Technology recently.
He comes from a large family in eMbalenhle and attended the Thomas Nhbahle Secondary School.
He knew that he wanted to study further, but was not sure how he would afford it as his family was unable to help.
Luckily Bongumusa had worked hard and was one of the top performers of his school.
He was selected for an interview for the Southern Highveld Community Development Trust (SHCDT) scholarship at Graceland.
Bongumusa was awarded the SHCDT scholarship which covered all his costs, including accommodation, books and a laptop.
He owes his success to hard work and determination and is currently studying towards his B-Tech.
“We wish him everything of the best for his future,” Ms Jenny Findlay, Trust manager, said.
“We would like to bring everyone’s attention to the exciting bursary offered by the SHCDT that is sponsored by Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club.”
At Graceland there are several opportunities for young people wishing to study after school.
These include:
* University scholarship for a wide variety of courses available for top academic students.
* Electrician – A 3 year learnership and trade test.
* Hospitality – Graceland has a relationship with the Gert Sibande College whereby students are able to complete their practicals after completing theory at the college.
