Mpumalanga Premier targets to train 5 000 youth

Mabuza highlights some development programmes in Govan Mbeki municipal area.

HIGHVELD – Mr David Mabuza, Mpumalanga Premier, said during his State of the Province Address on Friday, 27 June that the Artisan Training Centre built by Hydra Arc will play a significant role in skills development and job creation in the province.

“We will be concluding a partnership agreement with this company soon and are targeting a total number of 5 000 young people to be trained over the next five years.”

Mr Mabuza said Secunda is among the towns that has been prioritised for the improvement and expansion of its road network.

The other towns are Mbombela, Emalahleni, Ermelo, Middlelburg and Mashishing.

Mr Mabuza said they will also accelerate the implementation of the Ikusasa Project with Sasol.

He said they will implement a comprehensive HIV and Aids programme in partnership with key stakeholders in the province.

“Our area of focus in this regard will be the Gert Sibande District where the prevalence rate is currently 40.5 per cent, the second highest in South Africa.”
