SANCO demands employment
SANCO wants the unemployed young people in Sakhile to be prioritised when they are vacancies in companies based in Standerton.

The South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) is demanding companies within Standerton to hire local residents when there are vacancies available.
SANCO organised a march, which was later cancelled, after reaching an agreement with Noble.
According to Mr Sello Sauhatsi, Ward 5 convener of SANCO, Noble agreed to their request as regards general workers’ positions.
“There will be a stakeholders forum that will notify the community if there are vacancies,” Mr Sauhatsi said. “The community will then gather at Sakhile Stadium with their identity documents and a raffle system will be used.”
Noble also agreed to support Non-Profitable Organisations (NPOs) and small-scale farmers.
SANCO visited the Department of Water Affairs on 2 July as well, demanding jobs for the unemployed young people in Sakhile.
The executive members will meet with the management of the department to discuss their requests including employing local people and being transparent about issues regarding vacancies.
The date for this meeting has not been confirmed.
