Govan Mbeki removes dangerous power boxes

Residents want municipality to action against people who put up illegal posters against electric boxes.

eMBALENHLE – Govan Mbeki Municipality is replacing old open and broken power boxes with new strong ones.

Mr Henry Masango, head of Marketing and Communications, said they went out on tender and are waiting for the procurement process to be finalised.

The boxes that are replaced in Extension 1 have been commissioned from a company to install them on risk basis, pending its functionality and compatibility to the current network design.

Residents have welcomed the boxes and want the municipality to act against those who put illegal posters on them.

The township has several dangerous and uncovered boxes.
