Residents give input at IDP meetings

HIGHVELD – The Govan Mbeki Municipality is giving residents an opportunity to take part in its Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultation meetings for the 2015/2016 financial year review.
The purpose of the consultations are to get various inputs from residents about the infrastructure development and the service delivery needs within local areas.
The municipality’s IDP is reviewed annually.
It does not only determine the status of the identified projects for the previous year, but also whether the remaining projects are still relevant and a priority.
Residents were also given an opportunity to give comment and their input about other service delivery issues in the municipality which included the availability of land for housing purposes, poor road infrastructure and sewer problems.
Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor, said: “It is in the interest of residents to attend the IDP meetings as they give residents an opportunity to talk to us in an open and frank manner so that together we are able to chart the direction that this municipality has to take.”
The programme began with meetings at Difa Nkosi Community Hall and RDP Community Hall in Lebohang and Healing Centred Ministries and Kiriyatswane Secondary School on Tuesday, 19 August.
Other meetings were held at the Kinross Sasol Club, eMbalenhle Gate 7, Kinross Golf Club and Vukuzithathe Primary School on 20 August.
Meetings were held at the eMbalenhle South Community Hall, Charl Cilliers and Lilian Ngoyi Centre on 21 August.
Another one was held at Bethal Farm kaMkhonto, Leandra Moedverloren Farm, Leeuwpan Farm and Roodebank Store on 24 August.
Meetings were also held at the Leandra Thusong Centre, Raymond Mavuso Hall, Maphala Gulube Primary School and Extension 13, 22 and 23 Ground in eMzinoni on 26 August.
The last meeting will be held at the Basil Read Ground in eMzinoni, Kinross Extension 25 Municipal Office, Gert Sibande FET College and Sjongile Ndamase Community Hall at 5pm on 27 August.
