Police call on business people to upgrade security.

eMBALENHLE – A 27-year-old security guard was shot dead recently after a business robbery.

The police received a call that a business was being robbed.

While they were on their way to the scene, the caller’s neighbour went to help him and there was an exchange of gun fire.

The suspects ran away and a security guard chased after them.

A suspect shot him in the neck.

The guard managed to drive to the Evander Hospital, but died on arrival.

Nobody has been arrested yet.

No has been arrested yet.

The police condemned the killing of the security guard and said it was an untimely death caused by “barbaric behaviour of law breakers.

“We are working tirelessly to ensure that we arrest the perpetrators.

“We believe that through the help of our community, we will be successful,” said Capt Mangonseni Nkosi.

He said business owners must keep upgrading their security, though criminals have adopted a new way of breaking in.

“They now use hammers to break the walls of buildings they want to rob.”
