Kasselman nabs two suspects in Meyerville for alleged theft

Kasselman Security Services officers arrested two men in possession of stolen property a few hours ago.

According to an officer on the scene, they received a call from a concerned resident that somebody was making a fire in a veld next to the railway bridge on the way to Meyerville.

After inspection a man was found burning plastic covering off presumed stolen copper wire.

“When we arrested the suspect we saw another man walking on the railway bridge with a heavy bag,” the officer said.

“We tried to stop him, but he ignored us and when we approached him.

“We found metal bars, which Transnet uses to secure their railway lines, in the bag.”

The suspects were handcuffed and placed in a Kasselman patrol vehicle and the police were contacted to take them away.
