Jobs are not for sale

eMzinoni Police warn residents about scams in the area.

eMZINONI – People have been complaining that they are being approached by people who ask them to deposit money into an account in exchange of a promised job.

Const Cynthia Mtsweni, police spokesman, said if you are currently looking for a job and have come across anyone who claims to offer you work and wants you to deposit money into a private account, you must beware because it is usually a scam.

She said in a recent incident about 10 women lost about R5 00 in a job scam when a friend of a friend promised to give them jobs if they give him money.

The man fled with the money and his cell phone does not work.

“The women reported the incidents, but decided not to open cases because they knew they were also going to face charges for fraud.

“Paying a bribe to get a job, is a criminal act.”
