Lenny, an African Grey parrot, was stolen on 30 January from the Rose and Thistle Pub in Kerk Street and returned a day later.
“Lenny is part of the furniture and has been with us for the past 12 years, he even greets all our regular customers on their arrival by walking up and down the bar surface,” Mr Bruce Pattullo, owner of the establishment, said.

“We realised that he had disappeared in the late afternoon on Friday and according to some customers a man was seen walking around the pub with Lenny on his shoulder,” Mr Pattullo said.
The bar staff contacted the police at about 4pm and according to him they only arrived at 11.30pm.
“The police began investigating and took statements from customers, the man was familiar to some, but they did not know his name or where he lived,” he also said.
“One of my regular customers was rudely awaken at his flat by a knock on his bedroom window the next morning, when he opened the window a man put
Lenny through the window and said, take the bird, he then ran away.”
Lenny was returned to the pub, but the poor bird was pretty shook up and only began to eat again on Sunday evening.
“It looks like whoever took him tried to clip his wings, because there was blood on his left wing and someone also tried to remove the identification ring from his leg,” a concerned owner said.
The police informed all the employees of the pub to contact them with any information regarding the suspect.
