Rain causes Havoc on R23 Road towards Heidelberg

Four people were admitted to hospital after a crash involving two cars and a bakkie on 27 February.

The accident occurred about 10km out of town on the R23 Road towards Heidelberg.

According to a police report a bakkie, carrying sheep on the back and a cow in a trailer, swerved off the road and ended up in a ditch next to the road.

The trailer fell over and the cow escaped and ran into the road.

A car travelling towards Standerton then hit another car, from the opposite direction, on its side and collided with the cow killing it instantly.

“Four people, two from the white car and two from the car that collided with the cow, were transported to the Standerton Hospital,” a fire official, that was on the scene, said.
