UPDATE: Secunda hammer murder update – Demons told Adam to commit murder
“I worship Satan,” said accused in court.
SECUNDA – Mr Adam Muller (23) appeared in the Secunda Magistrate’s Court yesterday (29 April) and said demons told him he would get a girlfriend if he attack people with a hammer.
His mother, Ms Jenet Muller, and his grandmother, Ms Dorothy Muller, testified in court on Monday during procedings to establish whether Mr Muller will be fit to stand trial for the murder of two people.
The magistrate, Ms Naidoo, ruled on Tuesday that Mr Muller must undergo a 30 day psychiatric evaluation at the Weskoppies psychiatric facility and the case was postponed until 28 May.
During the proceedings on Monday, Ms Muller said her son was very aggressive the evening before he attacked five people with a hammer in the CBD on Friday, 17 April.
“He also cursed the Lord.”
According to her he was using medicine prescribed by a doctor at the Evander Hospital and he saw a psychiatrist previously after he also became aggressive.
“Without his medicine he hears voices and becomes very aggressive.
“The doctor at the Evander Hospital said the medicine was to keep him calm and to control voices in his head.
“I was not in a position to control or help him and I do not think he knows the consequences of his actions.
“He was not himself before the attacks.
“He often did not bath and then I had to talk to him about it.
“He slept and smoked a lot and walked in circles in the garden and talked to himself.
“He would then fall on the ground and it looked as though he was praying and often cursed God.”
When the magistrate asked Mr Muller on Monday whether he knew why he was in court, he said he did and that he murdered two people.
