Tennis courts not ‘serving’ their purpose

Tennis courts are not being maintained by the Lekwa Municipality.

Local tennis players are requesting the Lekwa Municipality to upgrade the tennis courts in town.

According to Mr Fidelis Chakabveyo, a coach, the fence is rusty and deteriorating, the court surface worn out, the lights are not working and the grass is long.

“I replace the nets when needed and also make sure the club house is well maintained,” he said.

He also said thieves stole some cables a year ago and as a result the lights on the two courts are not working.

“One of the parents of a tennis player fixed the lights in the one court because the cables were only cut.”
