Govan Mbeki municipal mayor calls on pastors to pray

SECUNDA – Ms Lindi Masina, executive mayor of the Govan Mbeki Municipality, said she strongly believes that “the divine intervention of God can bring light into the darkness that is covering the municipality”.

She called on pastors and religious organisations to join her in praying for victory over the challenges that the municipality is currently facing.

This was said during the Mayoral Prayer Day that was held at the Johannes Stegmann Theatre on Thursday, 7 May.

Ms Masina told councillors, municipal employees and pastors who gathered to unite in prayer, that without God’s intervention things will not get any better.

“I believe this day will bring revival among our employees, councillors and the community.”

She wanted to set the record straight that the prayer day was not a substitution for working hard, but for asking God for wisdom while they work.

“We still have the responsibility of providing excellent service delivery, because we are a model city for excellence.”

Pastors gave messages of support to Council and its employees.

Dr Simon D Gumbi of the Assemblies of God, reminded the attendees that the grace of God is sufficient to help in times of need.

He encouraged Ms Masina to trust in God and to fully depend on Him.

“Remember that people can judge and speak evil of you, but remember that God loves you.

“His love and grace will keep and sustain you.”
