Will Nkonde be reinstated ?
The commissioner ruled that Mr Dumisani Nkonde, Senior Traffic Officer must be reinstated.
Mr Dumisani Nkonde, dismissed senior traffic officer’s arbitration hearing was finalised on 10 April.
The commissioner ordered the Lekwa Municipality to reinstate Mr Nkonde to the same, or a similar position he occupied, before the dismissal.
Mr Nkonde was released from his duties on 3 February.
He was charged with misconduct and allegedly failed to hand in his firearm after he was instructed to do so.
The municipality has taken the matter on review and Mr Nkonde is still dismissed.
According to Mr Sipho Mkwanazi, Lekwa municipal spokesman, the municipality did not participate in the hearing.
“The matter is now heard in the Labour Court and Mr Nkonde has not been reinstated,” Mr Mkwanazi said.
