Little girl writes to Lekwa Municipality

Please my municipality, help us to grow up in a healthy environment.

I am a girl of 11 years and has lived in Standerton all my life.

I love my town and it remains close to my heart, more than any other city I have seen or heard of.

Standerton is my home and I would not wish to live anywhere, except here.

As a child I want to enjoy life like any other child.

I want to know that I am allowed to be me, allowed to play, have a future and be healthy.

I would like to ask the municipality to please fix our local park in Kosmospark, next to Hompie Kedompie.

This park has many problems which are clear to any person living in Standerton.

It has long grass that keeps growing and I am afraid it might attract snakes and big rats.

There is nowhere we can play because all the playing equipment is broken.

I can not even call it a park, it is not safe for me and other children nearby.

From far, it looks like any open space.

The park is supposed to help us play and stay away from doing wrong things.

The park makes us active and prevents us from being couch potatoes.

It keeps us healthy and fit because we exercise a lot by playing.

It also helps to refresh our minds while having fun.

I would like to appeal to the municipality to fix our park quickly.

Please make it better for us and future kids to play in.

The municipality has spent money on the parks in Sakhile and Meyerville, why not our park?

Surely, as our government, you can do it without any problem.

Help us so that one day we can tell our children that they should not be lazy slugs and get up to smell the air, because that will be how we grew up.

We were playing in a clean, safe and nice park.

With all the Playstations, social networks and DSTV, without a park, we sit in front of the television the whole day and end up becoming fat and lazy.

We do not know our neighbours because from school it is back home.

We can not socialise.

Please my municipality, help us to grow up in a healthy environment.
