The accident occurred on the road between Standerton and Perdekop on 6 October last year.
Mr Tsepang Matloung, the taxi driver, who was charged with murder, fraud and reckless driving, appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on 5 June.
Mr Matloung pleaded not guilty to all charges and the case was remanded for trial.
He faces 12 counts of culpable homicide after 12 occupants died as a result of the accident.
Eleven people died on the scene and another in the Standerton Hospital three days later.
