A resident in town has been in the dark about her electric account since opening her business eight years ago.
“When I took over the shop I also took over the pre-paid meter which was used by the previous owner,” the woman said.
“I top up my electricity monthly the same way anybody with a pre-paid meter does, if you do not, you do not have electricity.”
She received an account from the municipality for more than R6 000 after a few months, which she queried and was only told to pay or they will cut off her electricity.
