Mr George Verwer testified about the opportunity God gave him to make a change.
He is the founder and former international director of Operation Mobilisation (OM) and he spoke about what God is doing around the world at the NG Rondekerk in Secunda.
OM works in over 110 countries worldwide and is a ministry of evangelism, discipleship training and church planting.
Their main focus is to help plant and strengthen churches around the world especially where Christianity is least known.
They have about 3 500 workers, and it is estimated that more than 125 000 people have participated in an OM outreach.
Mr Verwer and his friends turned their attention to Europe, seeking to mobilise local churches for global missions which would be led by indigenous rather than foreign missionaries in 1960.
They expanded the work to India and the Middle East in 1963, and in 1970 the ministry, now called Operation Mobilisation, bought its first ship.
This year the community of Secunda had the opportunity to go and see for themselves what his mission is all about.
Though Mr Verwer gave over the leadership of OM in 2003, he did not retire.
With his trademark globe jacket you will find Mr Verwer somewhere in the world pursuing motivated students to read, pray, share, go out into the field of ministry and to begin to spread the good news.
Mr Verwer has written several books that were also available on the day.
Many of his books are for free and are also available on his website.
