Housebreaking offences become a concern

The Sakhile Police have raised concerns about the growing number of reported housebreaking offences.

The police reached out to the community during a meeting on 7 July.

According to Sgt George Dhlamini, communications officer of the Sakhile Police, some residents acknowledged buying stolen goods.

They said the nyaope addicts are the ones breaking into houses.

The community urged the police to apprehend every housebreaking suspect and requested that a stop and search should be done.

The police appealed to them to work with them in fighting crime.

“We urge the community to report illegal activities,” Sgt Dhlamini said.

He also said Rooikoppen is one of the problematic areas, where break-ins happen frequently.

Sgt Dhlamini requested the residents not to buy any stolen property.
