DJ Farcan moving up
Local DJ enters a competition that will see him playing at the Annual Spring Fiesta in Ekurhuleni if he wins.
Ntate Tsotetsi, better known as DJ Farcan, is a locally-based DJ that wants to reach new frontiers.
This Standerton born DJ has been in the industry for 10 years now.
He taught himself how to DJ when his friend installed the auto-mix programme on his computer.
“My love for it began in 2005 when I used to organise the hip-hop sessions at the basket ball court in Sakhile,” he said.
He played beats for the hip-hop artists during their performances.
He stopped using his computer and moved to CDJs in 2007.
“I became the resident DJ at a club called OXJ in Meyerville, also in 2007.”
He has been playing at different events including parties, weddings and government functions.
DJ Farcan said he loves playing music because seeing people happy and dancing fulfills him.
“Music has the power to take people on an emotional journey, where they can just forget about their problems.”
He also began a movement in Thokoza at eSimendeni Section in Sakhile where he gave upcoming DJs a chance to showcase their talents every weekend.
DJ Farcan encouraged all the young people to dream big and not to let their circumstances limit them.
“Young people must spread their wings and fly, especially the ones from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.”
He said they should never be comfortable with what they have, but must always strive for more.
DJ Farcan has played at most of the festivals in town, including the Standerton Music Festival and Expo.
He would love to play on international stages such as in Ibiza in Spain.
He has recently entered a competition that will see him playing at the Annual Spring Fiesta in Ekurhuleni if he wins.
“The competition is running in seven regions and only two people, per region, will win.”.
According to him these two DJs will get a chance to play on the Generation Next stage during the fiesta.
