KotaLIfe aims for excellence
KotaLife hip-hop fans were happy to see the group’s video on DStv Channel 261 on Friday.
eMBALENHLE – KotaLife, a local hip-hop group, has entered the music industry with a bang.
Their video, Nomasilele, has appeared on the popular music Street Vibes programme on the DStv Channel 261,UKZN TV on Friday 17 July.
KotaLife consists of two members, Wayza and Y.T, who were born and raised in eMbalenhle.
They met in 2013 at a show and realised they have a common interest.
They came up with the name KotaLife which they said was inspired by the eKasi (township) lifestyle.
“iKota (bunny chow) is one of the common things in a township and is eaten by everyone.
“We are bringing something fresh and unique to the industry because we broke away from the usual hip-hop.
“We are not only audio, but visual as well and we give our fans a chance to see us performing,” said Wayza.
Y.T said their music is a combination of international and local rap hip-hop.
“We love the eKasi style.
“Many people despise it, but we aim at showing that local is ‘lekker”.
“We are excited by the support we get from our fans and we promise them we will keep on producing good quality music.
“We love and respect our fans, that is why we always aim for excellence.”
KotaLife thanked uMageza, Kotaboymuzik, Peppermint Visual Films and Brainstorm Multimedia Company for the support and endorsement.
